Special Session on

Rational Reasoning and Fusion Formalisms and Techniques for Intelligent Decision Support

 

Reasoning and fusion formalism and techniques in decision making processes have been widely provided in the literature. Logically consistent and rational modelling, reasoning and fusion formalisms and techniques place a crucial support for intelligent decision making: to evaluate and explain empirical observations, justify original and creative theories to enhance their utility, and to make the decision support systems have intellectual force. This, however, is also a rather challenge research direction. The advances in reasoning and fusion always imply improvements or new methods in decision making.

This invited session aims at providing an opportunity for researchers working in those research areas to present and discuss a broad and diverse range of current work, including theoretical and applied research based on different paradigms, and in this way keep the development of new ideas and paradigms.

More specifically, we expect you to have any contribution with the focus on developing rational modelling, fusion and reasoning techniques for decision making purpose. The approaches could be either numerical or symbolic, or both; could be modelling, fusion and reasoning under uncertainty; exact or approximate reasoning, quantitative or qualitative uncertain reasoning and fusion formalism; conflict/inconsistency analysis among multiple piece of uncertain information; logical-based reasoning or fusion formalisms for decision making; practical applications of modelling, fusion and reasoning in information retrieval, filtering, diagnosis, prediction, classification, situation assessment etc.

Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts to this invited session. All papers submitted in this session will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

We expect you to submit a tentative title of your paper and your contact details for this session before 20th December, 2009. Please submit your full paper contribution (4-6 pages) before January 15th, 2010 by email to either j.liu@ulster.ac.uk or martin@ujaen.es.

SESION ESPECIAL

 

Toma de decisiones con información difusa y/o lingüística

 

La Toma de Decisiones (TD) es una actividad habitual en muchas actividades de los seres humanos y de las empresas en distintos campos (ingeniería, ciencias sociales, psicología, tecnologías de la información, etc.). Debido a esta amplia gama de aplicaciones, se ha desarrollado una Teoría Clásica de la Decisión para resolver gran cantidad de estos problemas.

La Teoría Clásica de Decisión proporciona modelos determinísticos y probabilísticos para resolver dichos problemas. Los determinísticos ignoran la existencia de incertidumbre y los probabilísticos consideran que cualquier incertidumbre puede representarse con una distribución de probabilidad. Sin embargo, en el mundo real las decisiones se toman a menudo en situaciones de incertidumbre de naturaleza no probabilística. Para tratar y manejar incertidumbre no probabilística existen distintos enfoques y herramientas, entre los que se encuentran la Lógica Difusa y la Aproximación Lingüística Difusa, que hace más flexibles y fiables los modelos de de decisión.

Los objetivos que se persiguen en esta sesión son: proporcionar una oportunidad a los investigadores que trabajan Toma de Decisiones bajo incertidumbre utilizando la Lógica Difusa y la Aproximación Lingüística Difusa, para revisar el estado del arte y presentar resultados y experiencias novedosas y recientes en el área.

Se invita a los investigadores interesados a someter sus contribuciones a la sesión especial Toma de decisiones con información difusa y/o lingüística, del Congreso Español de Lógica y Tecnología Fuzzy (http://www.uhu.es/estylf2010/), enviando un título preliminar y un resumen  a los organizadores de la sesión vía email martin@ujaen.es, lapresta@eco.uva.es.

Special session on

 

Evaluation and Decision Models: A Fuzzy Perspective

 

Evaluation processes have been widely used in quality inspection of products and services, performance appraisal and management and in many other fields. The applications of intelligent techniques to these processes in which uncertainties are involved have opened new promising lines in this research area. Additionally the applications of decision analysis techniques to evaluation processes have produced successful results.

This invited session aims at providing an opportunity for researchers working in both research areas to discuss the state-of-the-art science and technologies, and their applications, to share their new ideas, original research results and practical experiences.

 

More specifically, we expect you to have any contribution with the focus on theory and practice instances of integrating fuzzy technology, one of the main Soft Computing constituent techniques, into evaluation and decision models to better solve those engineering, mathematical, and managerial problems involving uncertainty.

 

For the practical organization of the session, we would appreciate your contribution. We would take advantage of the outcome of this session to join researchers from both areas for future cooperation and joint research.

Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts to the invited session on Evaluation and Decision models: A fuzzy perspective. All papers submitted in this session will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

We expect you to submit a tentative title of your paper and your contact details for this session before 20th March, 2009.

Approaches for Information Fusion and Its Application to Decision-Making

 

The use of information fusion techniques in decision making processes have been widely provided in the literature. Both topics are quite important regarding different research areas in social science, engineering, computer science, psychology, etc. The advances in information fusion imply improvements or new methods in decision making.

This invited session aims at providing an opportunity for researchers working in both research areas to discuss the state-of-the-art science and technologies, and their applications, to share their new ideas, original research results and practical experiences.

 

More specifically, we expect you to have any contribution with the focus on fusion methods and algorithms for merging multiple information for decision making purpose. The approaches could be either numerical or symbolic, or both, could be based on probability theory, fuzzy/possibility theory, belief function theory, and logical-based approaches. Any research on modelling uncertain information using these formalisms, aggregation approaches offered by them, as well as conflict/inconsistency analysis among multiple piece of uncertain information within these theories.

 

For the practical organization of the session, we would appreciate your contribution. We would take advantage of the outcome of this session to join researchers from both areas for future cooperation and joint research.

 

Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts to the invited session on Approaches for information fusion and its application to Decision-Making. All papers submitted in this session will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. The extended version of best papers will be further reviewed to be considered in a special issue of international journal.

 

We expect you to submit a tentative title of your paper and your contact details for this session before 15th December, 2007.
