2015 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE 2015)

Kadir Has University, Cibali Campust, Istambul, Turkey, August 2-5, 2015

Proposal at FUZZ-IEEE 2015:

Special Session on “Linguistic Decision Making”

Organizers:

Francisco Herrera, Luis Martínez and Rosa Mª Rodríguez

Brief Description:

In many real decision situations defined under uncertain environments, with imprecise information, is straightforward the use of linguistic information due to the nature of different aspects of the decision problems. Fuzzy linguistic approach and Computing with Words (CW) provides the tools and methodology to deal with words or sentences defined in a natural or artificial language instead of numbers, it emulates human cognitive processes to improve solving processes of problems dealing with uncertainty.  Consequently, fuzzy linguistic approach and CW have been applied as modelling and computational basis for linguistic decision making, because it provides tools close to human beings reasoning processes related to decision making, which improve the resolution of decision making under uncertainty as linguistic decision making.

All Decision Making, Fuzzy Linguistic Approach and Computing with Words have recently attracted much attention in which, novel mathematical foundations and new decision models raised to be applied in different decision fields such as multi-criteria decision making, decision analysis, evaluation processes, etc.

Objectives and topics:

This invited session aims at providing an opportunity for researchers working in both research areas to discuss and to share their new ideas, original research results and practical experiences. More specifically, we expect you to have any contribution with the focus on the use of linguistic modelling in decision making. The topics of this special session are as follows:

  • Linguistic Decision analysis
  • Linguistic expression domains to represent preferences
  • Linguistic hesitant for modeling preference
  • Multi-criteria and group decision making

CALL FOR PAPERS

Special session on

  Fuzzy Decision Making:

Novel Approaches

The fuzzy set theory has been widely used in many different fields but one of the most useful fields of its applications it has been decision making due to its ability to represent some type of decision problems common in real world that often involves vague and uncertain information; having providing not only a large number of models and tools but also successful practical results.

These decision models and tools have used classically fuzzy concepts as type I fuzzy sets, but recently fuzzy linguistic approaches, type-II fuzzy sets and other extensions and generalizations such as intuitionistic fuzzy sets, hesitant fuzzy sets and so forth have boosted the field producing quite interesting a novel research in fuzzy decision making.

This invited session aims at providing an opportunity for researchers working in both research areas, fuzzy set theory and decision making, to discuss the state-of-the-art science and technologies, and their applications, to share their new ideas, original research results and practical experiences.

More specifically, we expect you to have any contribution with the focus on theory and practice instances of integrating fuzzy technology, one of the main Soft Computing constituent techniques, into decision models to better solve those engineering, mathematical, and managerial problems involving uncertainty. Topics of interest for this special session include but are not limited to:

  • Fuzzy Group Decision Making
  • Large Scale Fuzzy Decision Making
  • Fusing Linguistic Information in Decision Making
  • Fuzzy Multi Criteria Decision Making
  • Fuzzy Consensus Reaching Processes
  • Fusion Methods for Decision Making
  • Multi-Level Fusion for Decision Making
  • Intelligent Decision Support Systems
  • Dynamic Decision Making
  • Fuzzy Decision making in Engineering evaluation, resource management and transfer, Industry applications, sensory evaluation, evaluation and  recommenda-tion,  Investments applications and risk assessment, …

For the practical organization of the session, we would appreciate your contribution. We would take advantage of the outcome of this session to join researchers from both areas for future cooperation and joint research.

Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts to the invited session on Fuzzy Decision Making: Novel Approaches. All papers submitted in this session will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
